10916. Objektbasert prosjektering (IFC)

Building Information Modelling (BIM) with IFCs

Scope/Synopsis: The R&D project is an “umbrella” for Statsbygg’s initialization and support for a number of IFC related projects. IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is an international ISO standard related to Building Information Modelling (BIM). Using IFCs implies planning, designing, constructing and operating buildings by using intelligent objects (real “things” such as doors, fans, etc. and abstract concepts such as space, organization, process etc) with various properties and relations. These specifications can be shared between software applications that support IFC import/export. IFCs can be shared as IFC files or by querying an IFC model server, and can be used from the very earliest planning stages of a building construction project through to O&M and finally demolition. Statsbygg will participate in the conference buildingSMART in Oslo, May 31 – June 1, 2005, at the sessions Early stage planning (ESP) and Information Delivery Manual (IDM).
