Statsbygg have now completed the work following the negotiations with the three ranked winners of the Planning and Design Competition for the new National Museum building at Vestbanen.

The winner of the competition with negotiations is:  

Kleihues + Schuwerk Gesellschaft von Architeten mbH with forum artis

 

The two other competitors in the negotiations have been JAJA Architects ApS, Copenhagen with Urban Transition and Henning Larsen Architects A/S, Copenhagen with Trylleesken.

Negotiations

Following the jury’s completion of their work on 12 April this year, Statsbygg has held negotiations with the three ranked winners. These negotiations have been demanding for all parties, and the competition between the three has been real.

The negotiations have been completed according to regulations on public procurement, and the following criteria have been emphasised:

• The proposed solution comprises 60 per cent of the evaluation
  Here the criteria include overall measures, architectural quality, function and functional measures for the museum and building, museum-related contents, environment, technical matters, universal design and security. The jury’s report and guidelines for further development have had great significance for the assessments made.
• Feasibility comprises 20 per cent of the evaluation.
  Here the criteria include organisation, staff, competency and estimated time use for preliminary drafts and projects.
• Fees comprise 20 per cent of the evaluation.
  This is the offered hourly fee for the architect’s work.

Reasoning

Following an overall evaluation, the offer received from Kleihues + Schuwerk is judged to be the best and most financially viable. This proposal succeeds in combining nice, distinct visitor areas with functional solutions that preserve and secure the National Museum’s collections. This is an important reason why forumartis is the winner of the Competition for the new National Museum building at Vestbanen.

We expect to sign the contract with the winner on 30 November.
